Dr. GiovanniGrimaldi is an italian urological surgeon. After specialist training and certification in Urology between the University of Naples – Italy and the University of Cantabria – Santander in Spain, he obtained targeted subspecialist training in minimally invasive surgery at the University of Braga – Portugal – where he practiced with an international scholarship in minimally invasive surgery and endoscopy. He subsequently attended uro-oncology masterclasses in various host centers throughout Europe (Jesús Usón Minimally Invasive Surgery Center – Caceres- Esp; University of Heibronn – DE ;- Fundació Puigvert- Barcellona- Esp; Università Vita -Salute San Raffaele Milano – Ita) then obtained the title of Fellowof the European Board of Urology from the European Society of Urology of Prague-CZ. Since 2016 he is working at the National Center for Scientific Research and Treatment – “Pascale” Cancer Institute of Naples, deepening his experience in robotic surgery with the urology team, first using three-dimensional reconstructions and then developing the use of intraoperative augmented reality techniques in field of oncology surgical robotic urology. Furthermore, with urologic team of INT Pascale participated in the opening of the first public oncological andrology clinic in southern Italy. The outcomes of this activity demonstrated an important impact on the improvement of functional aspects and the quality of life of cancer patients and their families, leading to the development of innovative protocols – such as robotic radical cystectomy with concomitant implantation of 3-piece penile prosthesis in a one-step solution in younger oncologic patients( https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8209785/). Dr. Grimaldi’s research interests include various aspects of surgical and clinical uro-andrology with contributions to peer-reviewed journals, book chapters, abstracts and presentations across Europe. Since 2021 he has been part of the Scientific Committee for the training and evaluation of the ECM training events of the Pascale Foundation – and professor of Urology in the Nursing Sciences course at the University of Naples “Federico II”
